McCarran International Airport Terminal 3 APM System
Las Vegas, NV
McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas is always on the move and has become one of the fastest growing major airports in the world. Beginning several years ago, McCarran initiated the development of its new Terminal 3 facility complete with preliminary design for a new, subterranean automated people mover (APM) to connect this new Terminal 3 with the existing Concourse D.
As part of a larger architectural and design team effort, Clark County Department of Aviation selected JAI to support the team through providing APM integration services during design completion and construction.
Based upon existing constraints and challenges posed by the APM integration, JAI's support has proven instrumental in identifying and coordinating resolution to numerous interface issues. For example, JAI developed a comprehensive ventilation analysis of the APM system to identify ventilation shaft design requirements, emergency and normal ventilation equipment requirements, and piston effect relief measures.
Further, JAI provided extensive design review coordination of transit related fixed facilities and the APM system as well as technical and program oversight to insure design compatibility and adherence to industry standards and codes.
