West Virginia University PRT Modernization and Expansion Study
Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
On behalf of a private client, JAI recently assisted with the development of a preliminary modernization and expansion study of the West Virginia University PRT system (Group Rapid Transit). The WVU PRT system, originally build by the Boeing Vertol consortium, has been in continuous and successful operation since 1975. Having already fulfilled its design life, the WVU PRT system is in need of refurbishment.
For this system, JAI was engaged to assist a private client to evaluated operational characteristics and guideway design in an effort to determine real-world feasibility of system refurbishment. Expansion options were also evaluated. JAI also assisted with the development of a constructability analysis, and generated order-of-magnitude cost levels, both for operations and capital expenditures.
