San Jose Airport–VTA Connector PRT System Assessment and Preliminary Design Evaluation
San Jose, California, USA
On behalf of a local business owner, JAI conducted a preliminary assessment and design evaluation for a proposed PRT system serving the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in San Jose, California. This proposed system would provide direct service from the airport to a nearby Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Light Rail station, long term parking lots, the nearby Cal-Train station, and a nearby local business park. Detailed route planning and operational validation was initially conducted by JAI, followed by other various preliminary assessment activities, such as a PRT market review and potential supplier analysis, parking lot integration risk assessment model development, conceptual guideway and station design evaluation.
To fund this project, JAI examined opportunities for public/private partnerships and other traditional and non-traditional funding scenarios. To support our financial analysis, JAI conducted a detailed life cycle cost projection. Through this task, JAI has developed a comprehensive understanding of the local issues, challenges, and opportunities specific to developing a PRT system serving the San Jose Airport.
