Santa Clara VTA Light Rail Vehicle Fleet Procurement, Evaluation, Planning & Engineering

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) provides transit services to the world famous Silicon Valley in northern California. To accommodate ever growing demands in mobility solutions, VTA recently procured a new fleet of light rail vehicles. JAI was selected to provide technical services for new light rail system expansions.
Our services included technical evaluation of the original vehicle and the development of specifications for new LRV vehicles (including the preparation of technical papers), operations and capital constructability analysis, complete commissioning, testing, and evaluation, life cycle cost estimates, market assessment, and many others. Additional tasks included meetings with suppliers, safety certification, cost analyses, and the development of procurement procedures. We performed extensive design review and participated in vehicle inspections.
Due in part to our efforts, the VTA now operates one of the most modern LRV fleets in the nation and will provide a key mobility solution for millions of passengers for decades to come.
