Over 65,000 pedestrians circulate the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas (NV) during peak tourism periods. Coincident with the development of the nearby Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Mandalay Development Corporation (MDC) turned to JAI to plan, integrate, provide procurement management, and commission a cutting edge new fixed guideway transport system connecting their three clustered properties (Excalibur Resort Casino, Luxor Resort Casino, and the newly developing Mandalay Resort Casino). Among leading objectives of MDC for this new transit link included its unique ability to ‘capture’ patrons within Mandalay properties while inducing ridership and becoming an attraction unto itself. In addition to high system reliability and economical operation.

JAI subsequently performed alignment planning, preliminary engineering, technology assessment, and a life cycle cost evaluation. Follow-on activities included RFP development, contract negotiations, system implementation and integration, construction management oversight, and testing and commissioning. JAI takes great pride in this program as it set a new implementation record for a 2,700 foot long, 3,500 passenger per hour per direction fixed guideway transit system of only 8-1/2 months while exceeding customer expectations.
