SAN JOSE, CA – Jakes Associates, Inc (JAI) is pleased to announce the opening of the Clarian Health People Mover. Based on a franchise agreement with the City of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jakes Associates, Inc. conceived and managed the implementation of an urban private transit system on a public right-of way, at no cost to taxpayers. The Health Care Transportation Franchise Agreement between the Consolidated City of Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana and Clarian Health Partners, Inc. is the first ever adopted.

The official ceremony to inaugurate the operation of the 1.5-mile Clarian Health People Mover system in Indianapolis took place on June 26, 2003, where Clarian Health officially hosted a reception and press conference. Clarian Health senior management, as well as city and state officials, were among invited keynote speakers at the well attended event designed to offer local press and residents their first glimpse of this new, innovative transit system. Media coverage of the event included several local area television stations, the Indianapolis Star and other newspapers. Ceremony speakers commended system developer (SDI) for the well managed, fast tracked project.

Two sleek, 80 passenger monorail trains travel the route between Methodist Hospital and the campuses of Indiana University Medical Center. With total support from the Mayorʼs office, the City of Indianapolis, the State of Indiana, and all related agencies, communities, and private sectors, the project has become an unparalleled success story. The complete project budget is $42 million, a fraction of the cost of other projects implemented nationwide. This leads to a better return-on-investment ratio and a superior overall project image. Another success story by Jakes Associates, Inc., who invites everyone to take a ride.
