Waikaloa Rehabilitation Engineering Support
Waikoloa, HI
The Tram System at the Hilton Waikoloa Village (HWV) resort has been in continuous operation since 1988. As the System approached 20 years of useful life, certain components installed on the Tram vehicles and wayside technologies have become obsolete and are not available for replacement or designs of certain subsystems have met and/or exceeded their planned useful life. As part of a larger rehabilitation effort, JAI supported the engineering and construction modernization of the entire Tram system including:
- Tramway structure and electrical systems
- Construction and integration of three new Trams
- Replacement of the Transportation Location Tracking subsystem, and
- Replacement of the Tram Crossing Warning subsystem
JAI assumed primary responsibilities for development of various management and technical contract deliverable documentation and worked extensively with other project participants performing the work on a direct, interactive basis to further build on their core competencies. JAI also developed a comprehensive documentation management system for our client's use. JAI further provided various levels of specialty technical and management support to assist our client.
